Arthur W. Pink was born in 1886 in Nottingham. He trained as an English teacher and after his conversion studied at the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago in 1910, following which he held a number of pastorates in the US and Australia, returning to the UK in 1934. He lived the rest of his life, almost unnoticed, in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, until his death in 1952. However, his writings, mostly published in the magazine he started ‘Studies in the Scriptures’, had a powerful effect in the renewal of interest in the Reformed tradition and his works are now widely established as a leading author in doctrinal Christianity.
