Originally delivered as the keynote lecture at his own Pastor’s College, it was entitled as "The Greatest Fight in the World", or called by some his "Final Manifesto", as it was delivered shortly before his death. But this is not a message to be restricted to a conference over 130 years ago, but one to be declared loud and clear in our own time.

For we seem not to have learned any of the lessons that Spurgeon fought against, and the truth he declared in his own age; of the centrality of the Word of God in our lives and churches, of the authority of a fully inspired Scriptures, and of the value we are to each other as members of the church of Jesus Christ.

It is a renewal call to live the sort of lives he demanded of his ministers, and through them to every Christian, as we too serve as "Soldiers of the Cross" in this generation.

“My topics have to do with our life-work, with the crusade against error and sin in which we are engaged. I hope that everyone wears the red cross on their heart, and is pledged to do and dare for Christ and for his cross, and never to be satisfied till Christ’s foes are routed and Christ himself is satisfied. Our fathers used to speak of "The Cause of God and Truth"; and it is for this that we bear arms, the few against the many, the feeble against the mighty. Oh, to be found good soldiers of Jesus Christ!”
